Brits Abroad

We had an early start to catch the train from Vancouver down to Portland. You have to get there an hour early to do customs checks before boarding so we were up at 5am to catch the 6.40am train. The night before we had an early night and a tv dinner.

This involved pitta pizzas in the toaster oven with Daiya cheese and Yves pepperoni. We splashed out on some gourmet tonic at Wholefoods for our G+Ts and then settled down to watch last Christmas's Coronation Street!

  1. Groovy! I've not had that cheese before, can you only get it over there and how does it rate taste-wise? :D x

  2. It's pretty new and at the moment only available in N America. I've tried both types - cheddar and mozzarella - and they both tasted good and it melts and goes stringy like dairy cheese. Best cheese substitute I've had, hopefully will come to England soon.

  3. I'd love to get hold of some Daiya, I've heard really good things about it. I've never been one for cheese substitutes, I've been vegan for a good while now and have lived without them until last month (am now addicted to mini pitta pizzas!) and I don't miss the stringyness of real cheese... in fact that was an annoying quality while trying to eat a pizza elegantly! ;) I really like Cheezley mozzerella, it's just SO nice.
